About

This site is coordinated by the Maxine Platzer Lynn Women’s Center to celebrate Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day (March 8). It is borne out of our work to commemorate and celebrate women’s achievements at and contributions to UVA as students, faculty, and staff. In particular, we celebrate extraordinary moments of women’s leadership that have changed UVA, moving it closer to its ideals.

We call on partners across Grounds to join us in spotlighting the accomplishments of women throughout history – here at UVA, to be certain, but globally as well. Each year, we are thrilled to see programming for Women’s History Month offered by many UVA offices and student organizations. We look forward to continuing to highlight more faculty-, staff-, and student-led initiatives in March each year.

Many colleagues across UVA provided invaluable support to this initiative throughout its initial planning phase. Their enthusiastic response to this initiative embodies the spirit of our aspiration for Women's History Month at UVA.
